About

Project Vaterland is dedicated to digitally reconstructing the historical ship "Vaterland" from 1914. The aim of this project is to produce a meticulous, three-dimensional replica of the vessel utilizing modern computer technology, and to generate impressive 360° panoramas from it. These panoramas are presented on this website, offering visitors an immersive virtual tour.

The reconstruction of the "Vaterland" is grounded in extensive research, historical photographs, and blueprints. Through meticulous examination of these sources, all pertinent information has been gathered to ensure the most precise replication of the ship. Like an actual vessel, each area has been accurately planned in advance. Any missing or flawed plans have been supplemented using CAD software, with every aspect of the ship faithfully reproduced to the best of our knowledge.

This project aims not only to entertain but also to serve as a valuable educational resource for academic institutions, researchers, and all enthusiasts. It offers a unique insight into the ship with an unprecedented level of quality. One could also call it an interactive museum.

Moreover, the project seeks to demonstrate the potential of modern technology in reconstructing and representing historical knowledge. The team hopes that this project will inspire others to undertake similar endeavors, bringing other ships back to life and making them experiential using the same approach.
